Everest and Khumbu Glacier

A note for those considering Nepal treks. I went in the fall of 1998 with Canadian Himalayan Expeditions (Everest Highlights and Tibet side trip) and in the fall of 1999 with World Expeditions (Everest base camp). I hope to return in 2001 and will use Canadian Himalayan Expeditions in the future. World Expeditions is too large, too machine like, and too indifferent to issues of Nepalese culture. C.H.E. is run by a small group of Canadians who know and love the area and give careful individual attention to treks from both the Western and Nepalese perspective. Moreover the Kathmandu accomodations offered by C.H.E. from the point of view of location, ambience, and service is hugely superior to the local model of one of the world wide chains offered by many of the competition. I recommend a visit to the C.H.E. web pages at:
